Our project addresses low literacy rates and reading scores in Santa Ana, CA, a challenge that affects students’ academic success and future opportunities. Many children in our community struggle with reading due to limited access to books, underfunded schools, and language barriers at home. We aim to improve literacy by offering community-based reading programs, bilingual literacy support, and book access initiatives. By engaging students through workshops and connecting them with reading buddies, we want to ensure that children receive the reading support they need. Our goal is to help students achieve higher academic success, build confidence in reading, grow their public speaking skills, and create greater opportunities for their future.
